How much more momentum do we have in Nifty Rally for 2023? What is expected in 2024-2025?
Nifty is creating all time highs and there is all around bullishness in the market. However, it will be interesting to know how much momentum do we still have for 2023? It would also be interesting to know what could be expected in 2024.
Note - This post has been written on 14-Sep-2023. We still have 3.5 months for 2023 to get over. The number for 2023 are mentioned as on this date.
The table below shows count of All Time Highs that Nifty had in each year since 1997 to 2023.
The Chart below represents the above data. Blue color bars represent count of ATH in a given year and Red line percentage represents % of change in next year ATH count compared to previous year count of ATH. It can be seen that visually there is some visual similarity between period of 2007 to 2014 and 2021 to 2023, although number of year are not same. As it can be seen that 2008 and 2009 had collectively -1650% of fall compared to 2007 count of ATH. The recovery in 2014 was 98%
The fall in count of ATH in 2022 compared to 2021 is -1400% In 2023 as on 14-Sep-2023, recovery has already been 73% compared to 2022, so one can expect approx 4 to 6 more ATH. If patterns of 2014 and 2023 are to be believed to be similar then as can be seen number of ATH in 2015 fall by 500% and no ATH in 2016. So number of ATH in 2024, 2025 will be much less and/or no ATH. Since the recession has been delayed from 2023, It seems it may have moved to later part of 2024 to 2025.
